Animal Planet plans Monster Week
'River Monsters'Animal Planet is developing its very own version of Discovery Channel's Shark Week having a programming stunt named Monster Week to become revealed in the Television Experts Assn. press tour today. Programs to become featured incorporate a special "Croc-Zilla," new segs of "Finding Bigfoot," the growing season finale of "River Monsters" along with a two-hour CGI-enhanced special known as "Mermaids: Your Body Found" in the finish from the eight-day event. Monster Week is placed for that second quarter: a strong date has not yet been set becasue it is not obvious once the season finale of "River Monsters," the week's greatest peg, will air. Hosting the programming is going to be Jeremy Wade, the British "extreme angler" who hooks Satanic-searching freshwater creatures around the globetrotting "River Monsters" and shows them off for that viewers' benefit. Animal Planet has extended its achieve to theoretical creatures recently with "Finding Bigfoot," therefore the "Mermaids" special is within good company. The Invention Communications cabler states the special includes first-hands accounts from the team of researchers who claim that they can have discovered a ocean creature associated with people. Apart from "Finding Bigfoot" and "River Monsters," other series moving out new episodes throughout Monster Week are "Call from the Wildman" and "Gator Boys." Animal Planet will even air reruns of "River Monsters" with new footage. Contact Mike Thielman at mike.thielman@variety.com
